From posts in external forums such as this I gather that I can enter the "Internet code" displayed when I save a game into http://darkroom.ubi.com/, and if the save passes certain criteria and you pass an online mission, you get a code that will let you unlock MDisk 13.
I do that and it says:
<<Congratulations [name],
You have proved your worth in the “Most Wanted List” challenge and are therefore in a good position to join the Iris Network. However, before you can join our ranks, there is still a final test to prove we can trust you. [etc]>>
This makes me think my save was judged "good enough". Yet when I click the "Start the mission" link, I get a pop-up with URL http://darkroom.ubi.com/erreur.php?id=3 and no content other than buttons for "Back" and "Homepage". I tried with Firefox 3.0.8, IE 7 on WinXP and even Safari on Macintosh.
Is this a known issue? Are Ubisoft still supporting this feature? If not, are there any other ways to get MDisk 13?
Richard.

From what I read on the post that you linked, it may seem like it's not functional anymore, but I found this site where there is a savegame editor so that you can give yourself the MDisk 13

It's an outside chance but try putting that url into The Wayback Machine, probably won't work but worth a shot

Thanks honorbuddy, that's a promising lead, though I think you forgot to add the link for that site to your post? I'd like to try it, if it turns out I can't get MDisk 13 "the honest way", as I made a point of getting all the photos and pearls (damn that shufflepuck game!) so it'd be great to get all the MDisks too, just to see the unlocked mini-game.

Alas no joy, as you suspected, but thanks for the thought. Makes sense since the codes are per-game, so there would need to be server-side smarts to process them. I wonder if the good people at GOG could persuade Ubisoft to resurrect the server (or perhaps even take it on themselves)?

Haha, I'm an idiot. Sorry, I didn't even notice, I'm all like "yeah, if you just click on this link right here you can get, it's so easy!" and I didn't put anything up. Anyways, here it goes http://www.zianet.com/parrotfan/BGAE/BGAEfaq.htm it's point number 3 under code troubles. As for what you said about getting it the legit way, I can understand that, you've worked hard trying to get all the stupid things, and you want that feeling of accomplishment, but I mean, if the only options are not to get it or to get it this way, I'd go with this (to be honest I probably wouldn't bother either way, but I rarely feel the need to get 100% on games). Alrighty, I hope that the link is working and that it helps you in your search for completion.

Thanks again honorbuddy, that did the trick once I realised that I needed to put the editor in the installation folder so it could find the savegame files.
I understand what you said: yes I would have preferred the opportunity to "earn" MDisk13, but this way is better than not having it at all. And yes, I do have a greater sense of completion for it, so thank you.
Having kicked the mini-game around a bit, it and the in-game version are interesting as a study in game control (mis)design. I have some ruminations which I'll write up separately.
FWIW, I still hope GOG will be able to either persuade Ubisoft to reinstate the challenge site or let GOG take it on, but meanwhile I'm marking yours as THE SOLUTION.
I'm glad I could help.
For your information, the darkroom (www.darkroom.com/us) actually works. I just recieved my code (I'll have to check later if it works through).
Used the lastest Firefox. A bit buggy (it first said that I failed, but sent my code afterwards), but it really works. The only things that doesn't (and I wish they still did) are www.hyliannews.com and www.irisnetwork.net.
