This is the first game I've bought a game for a PC, so needless to say I'm at a loss for what I'm supposed to do to repair my issues. I own a Windows Vista, and the game isn't running to hot. Eyes popping out, graphical tears, etc. I don't know how to access the area that I can repair it in. Can anyone help out a noob and give recommended info on what and what not to do? It'd be greatly appreciated.

In the advanced options ingame try turing off HW vertex processing.

I can't find the advanced options ingame. I can only get to regular options via the main menu and ingame pause menu.

Sorry my bad I think its actually the start menu where you can access those options. Just find the beyond good and evil folder in the start menu and it should have some graphics setup or games setup with those options to turn off HW vertex processing.

EDIT:
I edited out my answer as it was the same answer given by Ralackk.
The boards froze on me again so when i posted, Ralackk's post 'wasn't' here.
Using the boards it's getting silly...

I hope it has something to do with increased traffic to the site over christmas and will go back to normal soon. Pretty much have to answer something and then come back much later to see if it came up at all and if anyones replyed. As it is you will have a new message post but won't beable to find it until this goes through :P

HNY, mate!
Yeah, i've been having trouble with the boards this past few weeks, and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. Some files on the servers are losing their extensions and there's at least one file MIA. Something's afoot ;)
Yeah, probably increased traffic has something to do with it. Let's hope all gets sorted out soon.

Hey man, got the game runnin' great now. Only got two more problems. Some of cut scenes don't run at the same pace as the sounds. And when I jump onto the hovercraft, the game tends to lag quite a bit. Any advice?
P.S. Quoting this post cuz my comp's running like crap right now.

For the hoover craft lag turn the water settings down to lowest. I don't know what it is but they lag way worse then they should, they brought my 6800 ultra to its knees. Once on lowest its normally fine though.
As for sounds, I have a few sugestions. If on windows xp run dxdiag and change sound hardware acceleration or if you have a dual/quad core system run the game on a single core. You can do that by ctrl-alt-del to bring up task manager, find the games process in the processes tab and right click it. Then set the affinity setting to core0.
If neither of those solutions work could you post your system information and OS please?

No problem, Its a fun game. I only played it for the first time last year, couldn't put the game down.
Just wanted to contribute my two cents. I'm very careful to edit my graphics settings for performance without exchanging much visual fidelity and this was the best route for me on a Toshiba Satellite C855-S5111 in Windows 8 (this also fixed the terrible graphic flickering and tearing I had initially):

- Go into Advanced Settings of Beyond Good & Evil Settings panel
- Check Manual compatibility settings
- UNcheck HW Vertex Processing
- UNcheck W buffer

That should fix the graphics problems as well as make the game playable. For the slowdown I experienced in heavily lit areas like the Main City and Slaughterhouse:

- UNcheck Multi Vertex Stream

For overall increased performance, lower the anti-aliasing slider.

NOTE: Those familiar with tweaking graphics settings know that typically there's a pretty big performance payoff for lowering general Water detail settings and Shadows quality. HOWEVER, I found that to be untrue for this game with my setup. Despite some pretty good reflection quality in the water, I received almost NO noticeable framerate increase from dropping these settings even to their LOW and OFF settings, respectively. Same with Flare, but that wasn't a surprise.

Thanks a lot!
I unchecked HW Vertex Processing which fixed all the flickering graphics.

And by unchecking Multi Vertex Stream, this fixed the huge lag I suffered when I entered the city. Now I don't have to lower the water detail to fix the lag.

Thanks that was really helpful. Just remain to fix the alt-tab issue
Thanks, everyone for the tips on this issue. I just bought the game in the Insomnia Sale (MY! What a sale it is!) My first fight was really frustrating as the screen flickered and tore throughout. Came here to check the forums, and it was fixed in a jiffy!
