Im sorry, but after first try, game never starts again. First video, then loading is visible, then only black screen. Tried administrator privilege, tried K-codek.. nothing works. Im sad. First start was without problems, game is nice and fun. Anybody know what to do?

This is because of a missing codec. For some reason Windows 10 foundation doesn't come with the codec pack with the default media codecs.

Fear not!

Can you grab that pack http://www.cccp-project.net - install it and restart windows.

May be im doing something wrong, but still not working. Same story, video, loading and black screen - only in the left up corner is a number of version game.

very weird... can you press tab and then type dump
and then post the results of the messages.log file here?

You could also press TAB and send report if that is an option.

and then post the results of the messages.log file here?

You could also press TAB and send report if that is an option.
When i type dump + enter - nothig happend, i tried send a report, but i dont see a cursor there, so window closed. Then i press a TAB again and there is written ###################### AN ERROR OCURED ################

Can you hold out a few days - ill update this thread. I am fixing this problem. It seems very rare but I just found somebody who had it and they managed to send me a report - this way I can nail it! :)

Can you delete config.ini from the save game folder (so a search for it on explorer).
Then can you try this,

Open the game folder, locate desolation.exe, hold down Shift and click the exe.
You should get the resolution dialogue, try put it in a lower res in windows mode and see if that helps. Change this back from the video settings in the mail menu.

Sure, that's why I said, check the folder :)
Search for config.ini
Check it is in the BEAUTIFUL DESOLATION folder.
Delete it.
Start the desolation.exe and hold down shift
Select a lower resolution and then see if that starts correctly.
