I bought Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2 on sale at 75%. I am not a RTS's fan but I am a WH40K unconditional so I had to add it to my collection. I downloaded and installed it last evening. To my surprise the next day when I started the computer I found the EasyAntiCheat malware loaded in RAM. I traced it back to a folder in Program Files (x86) and removed it after disabling it in RAM. However I still needed to find the source. Connecting the dots I went back to the last program installed, the Battlefleet game in this case. Sure enough I found a EAC folder in the game folder. Trying to launch the game I soon found out it wouldn't work without the EAC spyware installed. Going back to GoG's game reviews I found a proposed "-NoEAC" solution but it did not prevent the malware from loading in RAM. Now I do not use game cheats nor go in Multiplayers mode but the issue here is the silent installation of malware for the sake of playing a game.

To be fair I know that GoG can not remove this "feature" without violating the copyright/license agreement but, on the other hand, I feel they have the responsibility of warning potential buyers of the risk involved or, else, not have it in their games catalogue like they do for the original version of Space Rangers 2 that contains the infamous Starforce malware. I, for one, would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks for the warning.

Have you tried to unistall EAC? I have recently reinstalled Windows and imported gog folder. The game runs fine without EAC intalled using switch -NoEAC.
