One thing is very unclear to me: Does having multiple peasant huts affect the rate at which new peasants spawn, or will it be the same rate whether I have one or a hundred huts? I know the speed is tied to your population--it's faster when you have 1 peasant as opposed to when you have a dozen--but is the number of peasant huts a modifier too, or does that just affect where they spawn?

Thanks!

No. The amount of peasant huts dosn't affect the populating rate.

But there are still some option what can you do with multiple huts. First of all, it is more than important if the water is far away from the rice. Other than this, you can use it to build larger base since you can set which hut spawns peasants. The AI often use this strategy to slow down the siege. Oh, and it is always a fine trick. Build some huts away from base, make illusions about your actual location. (Sadly the AI know where you are, but human players can be tricked XD )

Thanks, and thanks for the tips! I didn't think it did anything other than setting spawn and collection points, but it's good to have the confirm. I'm not traditionally an RTS guy beyond an affinity for Spellforce--got this one cause it was free a few weeks ago--but I'm enjoying it a lot.
You're welcome. The huts not the most important buildings other than producing the peasants, but still has some strategic role. Mostly I build only one hut, I never was that great strategist. If you are interested you can find some cool multiplayer matches from the game. You can learn many things from them.

I was never into RTS games too. The Battle Realms and Warhammer 40K: SoulStorm is the only ones I play. I hope one day I can see that game here too. :)
Sorry for bumping such an old thread, but it appears on the google front page and spreads misinformation.

According to the wiki, having more huts speeds up the peasant production rate.
