There is lots of Battle Realms history (of what happened after the Horde attack and before the start of the events as depicted in the game) on this page:
http://battlerealms.wikia.com/wiki/History

1) Does anyone know where this history was taken from? There is nothing of it in the manual.

Also does anyone know (as far as I know it wasn't explained in the game):

2) Did Kenji kill his father? Was this purposely left vague by the game designers?

3) Where was Kenji all this time after his father died and before he came back?

That's exactly the same page I linked to in my question. My first question was where this info was taken from, since the page offers no sources. Is that official story, or fan fiction or what.

Q2 and Q3 are not answered there.

Oh.

Uhhh I have no excuse for doing something that stupid.
The prologue is taken directly from the manual.
And apparently the chapters were on the official Battle Realms website, before it was taken down (see Maximus' post here):

Wonder if it was official canon, or just fan fiction.

Well, I suppose it can be considered canon, as it was on the original website.
Sadly this game is quite underrated... there's not much backstory given, besides these stories and the manual (and the game itself of course).

Love the japanese-like fantasy setting and story, someone should consider kickstarting a sequel and expanding the lore ;)

1) The original Battle Realms manual. There's every single word of it in there. It is canon, although some storylines contradict after Winter Of The Wolf. Everything on the wikia is trustworthy, me and another person keep an eye on every single edit on there and we keep adding more and more.

2/3) it was purposely left vague.
As a child, Kenji was known as "Little Dragon" for his fiery debates with his father, Lord Oja, who ruled over the Serpent people in a somewhat less honorable manner than Tarrant and his other ancestors once did. Whether he viewed his father's rule as merely ineffective or outright dishonorable is up for debate, and he made no secret about his misgivings. When Kenji was seen hovering over the body of his father's bloody corpse that one fateful night, he was immediately blamed for the murder of his father, and to avoid certain death Kenji fled the Serpent Clan for a self-imposed exile that lasted nearly seven years.

There isn't. Not in the manual I have that came with GOG at least. I read the manual before starting a game and I wouldn't ask if it was there. The attack of the Horde is described in the manual, but that's basically it. Of chapters 3-11 there is nothing in the manual. Some things like Yukio's rule, Hideo, Blackbone... etc... etc... are not mentioned at all. Of others, there are some few vague references at best. Definitely not "every single word".

For reference, this is the manual that's included with GOG:

Did the original game come with a separate manual that included this? Something that's not included in GOG.

Oh right, the original manual had the introduction part. Liquid had later released the complete story on their site, since then it started migrating. My apologies for the mishap, but trust me, it's canon and it was confirmed by Ed Del Castillo. Since me and another couple of persons have recently started fixing stuff on wikia, it's becoming a more reliable source. In terms of story it's totally reliable, but gameplay elements still need to be fixed. So what I'm basically saying- you can trust the wikia.

Thank you very much.

The wikia has tons of useful information that's not available in the manual. Stuff like passive abilities, damage types... etc. Was very helpful to me.

To add: I've actually recalled there was a Serpent Journey cutscene, where the Wolves send a parlamenter and Kenji kills him, saying they (Wolves) protect his father's murderer. At that time I came up with a conclusion that Kenji saw the murderer at that night, which was Nightvol in his ninja form. Well, there goes the answer I suppose.

Yes, I just actually saw this cutscene 2 days ago, and it made me wonder about it too. If this is true, and Kenji wasn't lying (he was a Serpent, though he hadn't really a reason to lie in this case), it also makes you wonder why the Dragon Kenji never said anything about this to Otomo. Maybe he did want/try to kill his father that day but was beaten to it by the Nightvol ninja, so he still partially sees himself as his father's killer.
