Why has the system of infinite lives been used in arcade mode? Being a homage to the classic Ghouls'n'ghost do not you think it would be better to have a limited number of lives and continues? With infinite lives there is no challenge like in the classic arcade machines.

Hey, thanks for your question, and sorry for the delay in replying.

The answer is quite a simple one, Battle Princess Madelyn is not a straight clone of GnG. Under Madelyn's guidance (Chris's daughter, and co-creator), the Arcade mode is intentionally a pick up and play starting point for those who have never played a game like this.

The challenge lies in Story mode.

This might not be everyones cup of tea, but for Madelyn, this was an important feature. :)
Thanks for the answer. It's a pity not to have an arcade mode like old games, but if it's a design decision I respect it

Please consider to add an arcade option with finite number of lives (possibly introducing some extra lives in the map): the game is well designed, but as it is now, the arcade mode completely lacks the sense of challenge.
