Just tried playing this game for the first time today. I never played this game or earlier versions of it.

Is there a tutorial? i could not find it?

I started a campaign on easy. In front of me i see one tiny mini map and a second bit bigger mini map and no main play screen? Cannot seem to rectify?

Being a fan of Galactic Assault, i was recommended this game as a similar style of game?

There's a tutorial section in the manual - that indicates where the tutorial maps are (they're under Individual Maps), along with giving you instructions on what to do (alas, the tutorial isn't entirely on-line, as was often the case in these days).

The default window size is irritatingly small, and seems in some way connected to the hex size - entering the settings menu (the one to the left of the little disk icon) will allow you to drag the borders of the window to make it a bit larger. Various options on the bottom will then have the remainder of the screen filled up with unit details and such.

Having had a quick look for details on Galactic Assault, it looks as if it might be similar, yes.

I also had a go at battle isle 1 and 2.

As it happens, i really hate such small maps (even if it were possible to be expanded to full screen, the maps are geographically too small), and therefore, i hate this game, very disappointing.

"give me land lots of land with the starry skies above, don't fence me in....."
