Bought Battle Chess... this is a game I used to play all the time on my NES back in the day when I was a kid. I never had it for the PC (did have Archon Ultra which I used to love), but loved it on NES. I installed this on my daughter's computer, and she ended up playing it for 2 hours straight.

Couple of questions that I was hoping you guys could answer.

Is there any way that I can speed it up? I know there's some setting in DOSBOX. Also, it loads up in 640x480. Any way / setting in DOSBOX that I can make it full screen? Desktop resolution is 1440xwhatever...

Sorry, call me lazy, but I was hoping you guys could just give me the answers for free! Haha

Thanks!!!

You can use Control-F12 keys to increase the number of emulation cycles (and Control-F11 to decrease it) temporarily. Each time you press it, the number of cycles goes up by 1000 (from 10000).

For a permanent change, you need to locate the file dosboxBC.conf in the game directory and edit the cycles= line and experiment with the number. However, the default setting (cycles=10000) is already quite high for this game, so I am afraid the speed won't go up.

Try changing to the following settings in dosboxBC.conf:

fullresolution=1440x900
output=opengl

scaler=normal3x

(I am assuming your desktop resolution is 1440 by 900 pixels). Also make sure dosbox is running in full screen mode (you can go into it and out by pressing Alt-Enter).

Thank you very much! I appreciate it!!!

By the way, I totally know that avatar from somewhere... is that from one of the fighter / characters in Balor of the Evil Eye from KOEI? I would consider myself such a bad-ass if I just guessed that. I haven't played that game in like 15 years.

Right on spot! It's Morrigan from Celtic Tales: Balor of the Evil Eye. I am using it as an informal reminder for GOG to bring this game here :D

Hahah!! Damn I'm good. What a great game! I own it on CD, but of course... I'd buy it again in a heartbeat on GoG if it popped up!
