Am I the only one with no audio on Banished? I'm on a new Win 7 laptop ... every other game and application runs totally fine, but I don't get any sound when I play Banished. The game plays fine, looks great ... I was able to build up to a population of about 50, but there's no audio. I'm new to the Windows platform, so maybe I'm missing something really obvious? Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for posting what you found. The game runs perfectly on my desktop, but had no audio when I tried running it on a new laptop. Downloading the DirectX redistributable now.
same thing for me, using windows 8 on a laptop and not a sound in sight (hear?!). what's even wierder is that even though my boyfriend has got the same computor model as i do, when he installed the game (downloaded the same file, same size, and installed it after me) the audio worked just fine for him. i have tried to un- and reinstall, restart the computor and everything else i could come to thing about but it just wont work for me. :(
Thanks, OP. This approach worked for me even with running Banished on the Mac using Wine.
I purchased the game today. I did had audio but after a while playing the first tutorial the sound started crackling and finally crashed the game. When I tried relaunching it it went into a black screen.
Downloading and installing the DirectX redistributable mentioned above solved all problems for me.
Thanks.
I downloaded this DirectX re distributable. than 'ran' it. I was then asked where I wanted the 'files' extracted to. I put them in the DOWNLOAD folder...What I got was about 30+ 'file capinets' (.cab files ) in the download folder. All of these seem to be ZIPPED/COMPRESSED files as well...

What do I do with all this??? Where do I extract and install...which ones to I extract...???

W T F...???

Run DXSETUP.exe.
