Ok, something weird happened to me: I had 7 herders dispatched in 4 pastures, until my cows caught a sickness and all died. At first I lowered the number of herders back to five, sent the two additional laborers filling my log reserves which had been running low, then after a while I split my chicken in two and sent one half to the empty pen and increase the total number of herders back to seven...

Except I'm stuck at five: the game refuses to let my total number of herders rise back to its original number, despite the fact that I have enough laborers available to take the job. So my chicken multiplied, apparently not needing human intervention to take care of themselves, and my chicken pen is now filled with chicken... and eggs, which no one pick up and just keep accumulating in the pen.

Hmm, try checking each pasture to see how many herders can be assigned to each. It should be a number in the top left (I think?), which you can adjust. I guess that number might have been reset to zero for your dead cow pasture.

Already checked it: it's still set at two.

Parinix: . . .
You've probably already checked but I will mention this anyway.

Make sure the pasture is set to "Work". It may have defaulted to off if your livestock died?? Not had that happen so I can't say for sure. Also the pasture size may limit the number of herdsmen. I can't verify this as I make mine fairly large and I am using several mods that affect pastures so . .

To raise the number of herdsman I first click the up arrow beside the herdsman assigned.
I than increase the number of jobs available to accommodate the added herdsmen.

It usually takes a little time for the game to update. If not and you have a Town Hall . . try raising the number of positions available on the first tab for herdsmen before raising the number you want to work the pasture.

Hope this helps =)

Hey, not bad! it was almost that: Work was supposedly on: I turned it off, then turned it back on, and lo and behold! the herders came to the pen. I think you were right: the pasture did default back to off when the cows died, but on top of that some weird-ass glitch kept the interface from properly showing it until I unchecked/rechecked Work.

Glad you got it working. =)

I have noticed some glitches but due to the fact that it was developed by a single individual I am more forgiving of the problems than I usually would be. Especially with the game being so unique and fun to play. It has been a pleasure to play and I've kept a game going since it's release here on GOG.

Hopefully Luke will continue to develop and patch the game.
