Hey people,

as I have already submitted a ticket, I wanted to post my behaviour/problem on the forums as well, a) so if anyone has a solution, we can help the gog team and b) if the team gives a solution, I can post here as well.

So what I am experiences is a heavy stuttering in-game of all my currently installed Infinity Engine games (BG1, BG2, PT) ever since I have updated my Microsoft OS to Windows 8.1. It only happens when I am not using the menus, those are running fine. Nothing has changed on my laptop apart from my OS. After upgrading and starting the game, Windows told me it would be installing DirectPlay, a component the game (truthfully) needs. I also have no audio while in-game.

Also of note: BG:EE runs just fine, so whatever they did with the Engine (running 1.2), it makes it not affected to the stuttering.

I already tried updating Graphics drivers and also tried the mouse lag fix some games were experiencing in Windows 8.1. As I just had the idea, I am now reinstalling my sound drivers, maybe they are the culprits, seeing as I have no sound whatsoever even in other games (Heroes oMM 3, for instance).

Cheerio!

Ah well, updating the audio drivers really did help. Well, if anyone else is experiencing lag or no audio after installing windows 8.1, just update drivers. graphics, audio, peripherals - whatever springs to mind.
