Hi all. I own a cd copy of BG2 and I wish to buy BG1 from gog, but I wonder if I can run bgtutu without having to buy BG2 from here as well. Any help appreciated.

You can mix and match retail and GOG versions of BG 1/2 with Tutu and it works just fine. The Tutu installer doesn't care where the games came from, only that they're installed. Just be aware that if you use your retail BG2 install, you'll need the BG2 disk in the drive to play Tutu.
thanks a lot, that was a fast answer :) I'm happy to buy gog version then ( I already played bg1 but discs are so ruined now :( ), I just coudn't stand the original interface because I played bg2 before bg1.
Yeah, I played BG2 first also, and I used my retail BG2 with the GOG BG1 with Tutu and it worked great. (I eventually got a GOG copy of BG2 because I was sick of the disk check.)

Just be aware that BG1 wasn't designed with BG2 weapon proficiencies in mind, so be careful about how you allocate your points. It was designed for broad categories rather than specific types, so there are some weapon proficiencies that are under-represented under the different proficiency system. BG1-style Large Swords, for instance, was broken down into 2h sword, longsword, bastard sword, and scimitar. Katanas and scimitars in particular are extremely rare to non-existent.
