For those who don't know, a version of Baldur's Gate was in development for the Playstation 1, but it was never released for reasons that should be blatantly obvious. That being said, much like Thrill Kill or Starfox 2 a near-complete version was leaked onto the internet, apparently playable from start to finish.

Now you remember how I said blatantly obvious? Take a look. Having messed with it myself, it seems more like an interesting curiosity than an actual game to be played. And so I ask: has anyone else messed with this strange aberration, and if so have they ever gotten farther than the opening area?
one of the reasons is load times from hell.
and the interface it's horrible

I think someone has offended the gods of load times, not to mention the 320x240 res, and 16 colour palette...
There's something terribly depressing about that version--I can't place my finger on it, though.
Dragon Age:Origins on the 360 was horrible too

Raisen223: I'm sorry, but a game like Baldur's Gate would epically fail if brought to consoles. If BioWare ever does that decision, I'll just commit suicide.
My mind... it's blown!

That is all.

Well, yeah. Why do you think they cancelled it? As I said, I played it for around an hour, and it's hilariously bad, especially now in comparison to the TuTu-ified 1920x1080 version I played. As you might expect, that kind of micromanagement doesn't work so well with a controller (or, in this case, a computer keyboard pretending to be a controller).

I really want someone to make a LP of it though, mostly because the idea of anyone actually sitting through all of it seems extremely entertaining in a "I can't believe he actually is doing this" kind of way.

Thing is, I'd really quite like BG & co to be brought to the iPad. It's more than powerful enough and the interface would be perfectly suited to touch control.

GemRB has a working port to iOS. Never used it myself, though.

You beaut, thank you for the pointer! I must investigate this. (though means I can't look at the FAQ at the same time as playing :) )
