I'm creating a Half-Elf Fighter/Cleric multiclass. I'm still pretty green when it comes to D&D rules, but I'm learning as I go.

I'm on the abilities page right now with these current stats:

STR - 18/00
DEX- 18
CON - 18
INT - 6
WIS - 18
CHR - 6

Total Roll: 90

Remaining points: 6

I have 6 points remaining, and I'd like to know the best way to spread them to intelligence and charisma. Or maybe my STR/DEX/CON/WIS distribution is wrong?

After that, I was thinking about starting with 1h/shield++ and mace++ then add war hammers later?

Again, I'm a pretty big noob here guys, and I'd really appreciate your input!

If this is Baldur's Gate 2, put at least 5 of those points into Intelligence; there is one specific enemy that can temporarily drain 5 Intelligence per hit, and having 11 INT will allow you to survive 2 hits without dying.

Also, Baldur's Gate 2 has a nice flail in it and none of the recruitable characters are good with flails.

This is for BG1, but I do intend on taking this character through the entire saga. So that sounds good to me! 11 INT is all I will need? Should I trade some charisma for intelligence? I don't mind making another character the leader and let them do the talking.

With that would you say I'm heading in the right direction with 1h/shield, mace then war hammers?

All into INT -- you can get a ring to set your CHA to 18 right at the start of the game (BG2), plus you'll need those points in INT to protect from Mind Flayers.

I would go for mace & flail (shield can be used without points wasted in them).

I wish you'd said you were using BGT. Then definitely go for hammers first, since the best blunt 1H weapon is a hammer, and can be got very early on, for free.

Thanks for the quick replies guys.

Ok right now I'm sitting at.

STR: 18/00
DEX: 18
CON: 18
INT: 12
WIS: 18
CHR: 6

That looks pretty solid? I just don't want anything to come back and bite me in the rear later on.

Solid? That's borderline god mode to get 18/00 STR *and* a 90 roll.

Haha ok, thanks. Ya I don't know what all this means just yet. All I knew was I wanted 18/00 STR from reading around and just aimed for that with a high roll.

I suppose I'm good to go then! I'll start out with hammers and go from there.

Again thanks to you both for the quick replies!
You could probably roll for days on end and not get that kind of luck again ;)

Best of luck with the game, sounds like you have a cracking character there. I'd try to get flail points though, simply because there is an excellent flail in BG2.
