Yes, you can. And could be easier if you play the right character and the right way, as you level up much faster. BTW, do yourself a favor and give your character a bag of holding from the beginning (use Shadowkeep).

Soloing BG2 the first time playing... Good luck with that. You'll be reloading a lot.
