my character has the following stats for a Paladin: STR 18/78 DEX 19 CON 17 INT 5 WIS 19 CHR 21 I am currently almost finished with the large town with multiple sections and i want to carry this character through to BG2. Is this character worth bringing into BG2? With an intelligence of 5; after each chapter is completed and the dream sequence commences, are the abilities given afterwards affected by my INT 5 level (Type of ability and how many abilities given)?
The abilities are based on your alignment (and level, I believe), not your INT. In BG2, I can only think of a couple things that are affected:

- if you're fighting mind flayers, and they hit you, they drain INT. With a 5 INT score, you'll only survive one hit. But you can boost it with potions when you're fighting them.

- there may be a few convo options that are affected (not positive), but I doubt it would mean you miss out on anything vital.

- I believe there may be a couple of Limited Wish options that can be affected as well, but I could be wrong there. I know WIS is the main stat for the LW options.
Don't worry about the low int. It won't affect the abilities you get. You can continue through BG2 without trouble. For a paladin 1 con is more useful than 10 int.

What ever happened to the 'R' in rpg?

If you really wanted to game the system, IIRC, you can get manuals to increase your stats. I had a 25 con mage at one point when playing around with things after beating it.

I'm more of a fan of letting people play the way they want to. YMMV.
