I bought and downloaded the game, and installing was fine. However when I try to start, it throws an error message: "missing libssl.so.1.0.0". I can't even find this in my distros repo, this lib is far too old. It would be good, if the installer is aware of the needed libs current version and linking against them. Now I try to softlink to the current libs, and I see the outcome.

In short, the game as shipped is broken on modern Linux. People have been reporting this for years, and neither GOG nor the publisher seem inclined to do anything about it, not even the minimal step of clearly documenting the defect.
