When I am creating my character (except some power runs), I am giving myself 100 chances and use the best one. I am counting while I click roll, storing the best on the way. Then I recall that one and stick with it.

Sorry if that was out of the subject :)
I can see you point. now I just think the item is silly to cause we are doing black pits first. were probably going to start the game with +1 and +2's anyway, should I reverse the order? that would mean black pits would end up being too easy. I thought well it's so short it does not matter to go in strong. on the other hand most of baulders gate is either a cake walk or a nightmare even if you are max XP the only real difference is how quick you clear out the regular story maps and how easy they are. yea I think I am going to switch those.

TrollumThinks: A mage would have 18 Int, 16 Con, 18 Wis (or maybe 18 Dex is better for ranged weapons early game and lowering AC a little), even 18 Str for carry-weight and still have points to spare.
Hey. Why 18 WIS for a mage? Is it because of the Wish spell or is there an other reason?

TrollumThinks: For most classes it won't make a real difference between 85 and 100 (carry-weight maybe)
You'll still manage 18 points in your primary attribute plus two more, and 10/11 in the three others.
E.g. Fighter with 18 Str,Con,Dex and 11 Int, 10 Wis, 10 Cha (unless you're allowing min-maxing to dump charisma to 3 - then you've got more to play with in Int for Mind-flayer purposes - better to use spells/potions for that though - and you did say you were RP-ing so dumping a stat should be off the table).
A mage would have 18 Int, 16 Con, 18 Wis (or maybe 18 Dex is better for ranged weapons early game and lowering AC a little), even 18 Str for carry-weight and still have points to spare.

So 85 is already more than powerful enough.
I put a minimum stat requirement of 10 in every stat. so no.. no stat dumping unless you count 10 as stat dumping.. lolz

You might want to let Alora, Branwen, Coran, Edwin, Garrick, Haer'Dalis, Imoen, Jan, Kagain, Khalid, Kivan, Korgan, Minsc, Montaron, Nalia, Quayle, Safana, Shar-Teel, Skie, Tiax, Viconia, Xan and Yeslick know that. ;-)
yea I do not plan to use any npc's if at all possible. if we just absolutely need a tank dps healer or rouge because no one is playing one I MIGHT use a npc otherwise 100% player characters.

You completely missed my point. The point is that ALL of those characters have stats UNDER 10. All of them.

Well recruiting was a bust. oh well. if any forum personnel see this feel free to delete/close this topic. I guess I will try again in a few weeks or maybe later this year when I have more free time. also if anyone knows a better forum/website to try finding active players for RP on BG or BG2 be sure to let me know.

Have you considered that it may be your rules and/or choice of medium (classic ≠ enhanced)?
maybe, like I said it's my first go round with this multiplayer. I keep thinking like a DM, guess it comes with being one for so long I am used to giving out rules and regulations. Really all I want is a fair and open RP experience where I am not pulling the strings, planning out events, creating the monsters, planning the plot-line, reviewing the materials to make sure I did not miss anything, and so on and so on. we'll see how things go down the line catch you later.
Multiplayer in Baldur's Gate is a very different experience compared to playing alone. I've only played a few multiplayer games, and just couldn't do it. People who play this game all have such different ways of playing, and it's very difficult to come to a happy conclusion, especially because everyone believes their way of playing is the right way of playing. ;)

That being said, the Beamdog Forums are very active, and have a multiplayer section where you can post this kind of thing, if you want to try finding people for this playthrough again.

Though, I highly recommend purchasing SoD. Not only is it very well done, a lot of the people over on the BD forums don't really consider a playthrough complete without it. Just something to think about.

Lastly, I don't believe the Black Pits campaign has anything to do with the Bhaalspawn saga. It's sort of a separate beast, as I've never heard of anyone including it in their series playthroughs.

You are the first person I saw saying that in this forum :)

Really? I understand the game (or expansion, or whatever you'd call it) was the subject of some controversy back when it was released, but I've included it in all of my playthroughs over the past ~2 years. It's a very interesting story, in my opinion, and while it's not perfect, I think it does a good job of bridging the gap between BG1 and BG2.

Of course, that's just my opinion. But I do urge every new player to the franchise to at least play it once and form their own opinion on it.
I heard it was good especially popular among the LGBT community. I don't know why exactly. Please no spoilers! but when I decide to get it, not if ... when.. I will be happy to try it.

about the black pits though.. I just really really like them. heh heh heh. It is a perfect prison/arena RP atmosphere.
