I'm in Chapter 6. After carrying around the wave blade forever, I found the wave shaft. Cool. Then when I went to look, I realized I don't seem to have the blade anymore, and I'm not sure where I put it. It's not in my bag of holding, nor the shop inventory at the Adventurer's Mart, nor my favorite storage cabinet at my fighter's stronghold.

So before I run around the whole game trying to discover where in the world I may have put it, I thought I'd see if there is a console command that would tell me *where* an item currently is. Is there such a thing?

Are there any unsafe storage containers in the fighter's stronghold, or unsafe shop inventories? I may have decided to expand my storage into a second container and had it all vanish.

(I'm sure there's a way to create the item with the console, but then I wouldn't be able to see what *other* items I may have lost at the same time/place, since I generally get rid of multiple unused items at once.)

It sounds like you may still have the item. Let me explain: you mentioned bag of holding and 'favourite storage'. This leads me to believe that you could be a hoarder of sorts, and have hundreds of items stashed away. The problem is that the game engine only 'sees' so many items in the inventory screen when a certain number is exceeded, even though they are still there. So the answer is to not store everything (or at least too much) in one or two containers. Pick a place that has multiple containers and categorise your storage. Sell things that you have no need of, or have no value other than income (gems, jewellery etc.) I'm pretty sure that if you go through your inventories this way you will find it.

Thanks for the tip! I'll keep that in mind.

In this case it doesn't appear to be the problem I'm having. I removed stuff from the Bag and it hasn't had any new contents appear. Same with the Adventurer's Mart. The place I'm storing things at my stronghold has very few items in it.
Okay, it looks like it was wrong--either I never had the wave blade or I lost it somewhere in the Underdark. Which doesn't really make much sense, since I do have the Impaler spear which seems to have come off the same body.

I guess I'll just have to create a copy of it.

It is possible you sold it inadvertently. It's not flagged as a quest item, and has value (250 gp). That's assuming you actually took it from the prince in the Sahaugin city -- you could have got Impaler from the king.
