Or is BG2 still the gold standard of RPGs? I own Skyrim, Fallout 3, The Witcher 1 and 2, and Dragon Age, yet I am spending more time on BG2 than anything else.

So yeah, It's the gold standard.

It is, I can't count how many times I played trough it.
With and without friends, as full party on medium difficulty and as mage on the highest difficulty, all alone.
(The Mage couldn't take the final Irenicus fight, but Kangaxx and the twisted rune)

So much to discover and such a great story. Even without any mods.

The only game that came roughly close to it was NWN2 with some mods.

BG2 is the ultimate RPG. Richly detailed, expertly realized - I've been a fan since the beginning. Nothing else comes close.
