Is it still buggy like the early reviews indicate, or is it far more stable now like BG1: EE? I'm curious since they have it and IWD: EE on sale right now.

Or, uh, would I be better off with just the original versions of BG2 and IWD?

My playthrough of Baldur's Gate II Enhanced Edition was way less buggy than any of my playthroughs of the original game.

The 2.0 patch which will be launched very soon is going to introduce some new bugs though.
I just saw about all the changes 2.0 introduces.

I see those changes are not optional on Steam. I assume they will be here though?

The changes aren't actually bad, most of them anyway, just the bugs that come with them.

Judging by Baldur's Gate 1 they won't be optional (you've been misinformed: they are optional on Steam, you can opt to stay on 1.3). You'll have to download the installer now if you don't want to play 2.0

the bg ee 2 patch is stable... many of the changes it makes can be toggled off if you want to keep the same bgee look you had before.
When I bought the game on CD back in the day, on my 486 or Pentium don't remember, the game was quite buggy, some quest could not be solved, and so on.

When the EE edition came out, my first tought was, they made the game widescreen and made it compatible with modern windows), bugs were there, but it wasn't that bad.

With patch 1.3 and now 2.0 (not here on GOG), neer has any trouble with the game, runs smooth.
I went ahead and bought both BG2: EE and IWD: EE (I have the Steam version of BG1: EE).

I didn't even realize it, but I'd been playing version 2.0 of BG1: EE, and it seems fine. Granted, I'm probably not as much of a purist as some fans, but considering the vanilla game is quite playable on its own, I can understand the POV.

Thanks again for all the input!
