At three different points in BG II I've run into hasted, invincible, magic resistant Clay Golems. Twice in the Planar Sphere and now in the vampire lair of chapter 3. What I eventually do is trick the Golem into fighting a summoned elemental in a room with a door. I then get my character out and shut the door. The Golem can't open the door, I've arranged it so I don't need anything else out of the room, and all is well. So far this has worked, but it is extremely annoying (I always get a little hurt, and with other enemies around it can be quite tricky). After checking a few guides I realized the Golem's aren't supposed to be there. Has this happened to anyone else? Any other ideas on how to get rid of them?

Clay golems are weak, but blunt weapons are the order of the day. They absolutely should not be invincible. What version of the game are you playing, and what mods do you have installed?
First off: Yes, golems -are- supposed to be in those places. Now, in some cases the type of golem depends on the level of your party. A low level party might face different golems than a high level one. Sometimes you meet clay golems, sometimes not. But it's not a bug either way.

Second off: Clay Golems are not invulnerable. They have to be attacked with magic blunt weapons. I believe +1 enchantment suffices. Lesser Clay Golems (Which only appear in the starter dungeon) can be hit by any blunt weapon, including non-magical ones.

Just bring some magic warhammers, maces, clubs, flails or quarter-staves. Morning stars work too, I think. And smack them. Clay Golems hit hard, but a few good blows from a magic blunt weapon will take them down.

Boy is my face red. Blunt weapons were the trick (though I'm not sure why the guide I was looking at mentioned other types of golems, but not clay). I apparently needed a refresher on my golem lore.
