Hello,

I purchased this game because my fiancee wanted to play it, but it does not seem to install on her computer, which runs Windows Vista.

When she clicks on the install file, the installer attempts to check the file's integrity. After this, the installation stalls. The process is still running, but nothing happens. This is even when she runs the file as the administrator.

Can anyone help me with this? It's frustrating to have bought the game only to have it not work on her computer.
I have the same issue. Did you set the use administrator setting in the compatibility tab under the file properties? I'm not sure why, but I was able to get the install program to run on my Vista system doing that (I still had to wait a while, though - the install program and Vista really don't get along) as opposed to right clicking the file and selecting run as administrator.
so far I've had no success either using Windows Vista. Not sure why, the previous Gog downloads I've had didn't have any problem installing, and some of them were sizeable downloads like M&M1-6, Postal 2, and Outcast.

Edit: Nevermind. I got it to work, it did just literally take a few minutes for this one for some reason for UAI to come up. I right clicked file, selected properties, clicked compatibility tab and set to Windows XP SP2, it did the trick for me.

Thanks for the advice mk2net, it worked! :)
I've had this same problem with most games i've brought here,on first run the file integrity pops up but if i run it again it works fine,so i suggest people try that if it fails first time.
I am running Windows 7 and when I go through the installation process I get an error code. I am trying to install again, but I do it says that there is already a folder made for the game.

I tried right click and run as administrator, then setting run as administrator in properties.

AFAIK there wasn't any difference. Just for some reason my Vista did not like this install at all. I restart my computer after right click-running cause I thought there was a problem.

Basically my PC ran slow as hell. After waiting maybe 15-20m of PC running slow the installer suddenly popped up. Seems to have installed fine but just took a very long time for it to actually get to the install. Guessing it has something to do with the file being huge (1.7gb) and taking a long time to unpack it or something?
No problem with Windows 7. Still haven't got it to work on Vista - I am experiencing all the problems mentioned above and cannot even right click to change the compatibility. More than a little annoying; I hope it is just a matter of waiting .....

EDIT: about ten minutes later - I dug a little deeper on the GOG Baldur's forums and found someone who had turned off the UAC, restarted and then right clicked as administrator on the setup exe file. BG1 is installing as I write with, as yet, no problems or slowing down of PC.

Thanks to Alondrix and others.

:O)

Even more embarrassing - should have paid attention to the banner from GOG, eh! LOL
