I had the original (play from discs) BG and pulled it out and have been enjoying playing on my Win 10, 64 bit machine. I just bo8ught the Enhanced version from GOG (couldn't resist the sales price). I wonder if it is somehow possible to play my saved game and characters from the Bioware BG with the Enhanced game I just bought?

Thanks for any help or suggestions. I realize the answer to my question is probably 'no.'

I should add that I've gotten pretty far in the Bioware version of BG1 and I'd really rather not start all over again from the beginning in BG1 Enhanced. My ultimate goal is (once I've finished BG1) to be able to import my BG1 characters into BG2 Enhanced.

since you're going to play BG2 anyway, starting BG1 over however "far" you've got in it would add only a fraction to your overall playtime
plus you should be able to make better choices this time around

PS it's all "Bioware versions".. where do ppl get this stupid idea that the EEs are somehow completely different games? lol

PPS yet I'd defo install the mod that restores the original movies to BG1EE (or just movies cos they've just cut out half of them). One thing that Beamdog got horribly wrong this is.

yes you can finish bg1 and import that save into bg2E
you can also import any custom characters you have saved but as pointed out the options for E characters are more open so you will probably want to start again sooner or later
