ok.. Im gonna run a new playthrough, BG through BG II.. I wanna play a bard, a female bard to be exact. I have a fun voice set and it really just makes the game for me.

My issue is in BGII i wanna do a female romance.. I dont think i've played either game in 8+ so the game is fresh once again. Basically i wanna romance vicconia, but as a female you can't.

Is there a way i can hack into my game save from BG1, and change the flag to make my character apear as a male in the game.. (i don't mean male avatar, I mean just the game thinking it's male, and keeping the female look) Or perhaps it's possible to replace the male avatar, with female look? that would work as well i supose

It could be hard coded, But perhaps it's as simple as changing a single digit, or character, or setting a simple word? I have zero clue how the BG code works, so if anyone has any idea if this can be done, or perhaps help me do it that would be awesome.

BTW, if you want to use the voice pack, check out file planet, and grab the gabriel voice set.. It's good ol Gabby from Xena warrior princess. It really is a great pack for all those obsessed xena fans. Gabby made the show, and she makes BG 10x better!

The Ease-Of-Use pack has a component that lets you romance any NPC regardless of race/gender.

Also, you could download Shadowkeeper and use it to turn the romances on, though the above pack is definitely easier.

Edit: You could also start a game as a male character, then use Shadowkeeper to change your character to a female. I believe that the game checks whether your character meets the requirements for the romance when you start the game, so this should 'trick' the game into letting you have a same-sex romance.

You could use Shadowkeeper & add the global variables:
CHECKVICONIAMATCH 1.
VICONIAMATCH 1
VICONIAROMANCE 0
VICONIAROMANCEACTIVE 1

Raisen223: If you wanted to romance, why did you become a female in the first place?
well i havent started the play through yet.. But i explained why.. I love the gabby voice pack and i wanted to play a bard.. and vicconia in some ways reminds me of xena in her war days... so it makes sence.

but thanks a lot people.. atleast i know it's doable. I really didnt want to start the playthrough if i couldnt do it, and would of sucked it up and made a guy. But now i know i can do the female bard character, that will be great!
You could also opt not to romance Viconia, but a mod NPC that is specifically targeted at a lesbian romance, like Sarah (Ranger) or Chloe (Kensai). There's a topic with a mod-romances overview here at Chosen of Mystra. Sarah is available at Gibberlings 3, Chloe at Spellhold Studios.

You don't actually need Shadowkeeper to mess with global or local variables, all of that can be done with the ingame console.

GetGlobal( <variable>,<type>) to check the current value, and
SetGlobal( <variable>,<type>) to change the value.

For instance,
CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("viconiamatch","global",1)
CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("checkviconiamatch","global",1)
CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("viconiaromanceactive","global",1)
CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("viconiaromance","global",1)
Type those four lines and it'll get started, regardless of race or sex.

If you're feeling particularly adventurous, you can even mess with the local lovetalk variables to bypass or repeat romance dialogues, or alter the viconiaromance variable to shortcut past the one-hour real-time delay between dialogues.

The easiest thing is to get one of the all-race all-sex romance mods from somewhere like Baldurdash or Sorcerer's Place, but those may interact strangely with other mods you have, since they generally edit the baldur.bcs file, which contains lots and lots of stuff.
another work around i found.. there is the sex change belt in BG1.. Does it exist in BG2? I guess only draw back to that is your stuck with just that belt for the game.

The Global Variables are added at character creation.

Just add the two viconia lines.
