Hello everyone!

Is there any reasoning behind Haer'Dalis' names for people? He refers to the PC as "Raven" but it wouldn't make sense if that was intentional because he doesn't know you are a child of Bhaal.

I wonder if Haer'Dalis says that only with female player characters?

The reason I ask is because for as long as I have owned Baldur's Gate ||: Shadows of Amn (since launch date), I have never played a male character before and I've always thought of those remarks as Haer'Dalis lightly flirting w/ the main character. *shrug*

Does anyone know if Haer'Dalis says those things to both gender player characters? ...or not?

He refers to both genders as "Raven". I know this because I only play male characters.

Same here. As to why, he is a bard, and a very poor (romantic) poet. Read some Shakespeare. :)

I think he's more perceptive than he lets on; I suspect he just doesn't have the motivation to spill all he knows. He recognizes that someone else is under a geas, for example.

Being part outsider, he may well recognize the taint of Bhaal on the PC.
I also have only ever played Baldur's Gate/Baldur's Gate 2 with a female character (the same one, that I originally created when I first got the BG2 CE when it first came out, because it was what I played first.) I usually pick a male character to play and figure if the game is worth a replay then I will play a female (because games that are worth a replay to me are usually RPGs that have enough depth/variety in what happens that playing a different gender makes a difference on occasion, of course), but for BG2 (and subsequently BG) I was compelled to make a female mage for some reason, Keilara. And of course, because of the story and character you play, to me, I wouldn't/couldn't change WHO that character is if/when replaying.
