i have not been able to find baldur.ini so that the appropriate commands can be entered. but i have found a link that gives lengthy instructions to how to do this. it seems that the enhanced edition uses balder.lua instead of baldur.ini. there are detailed instructions on how to set the computer so that cheats can be used in the game. i don't know about you, but i find purchasing at the stores to be tedious. & cheats resolve this issue for me.

these instructions can be found here: https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/8317/how-to-tweak-your-game
Exit the game first. Go to ..\Documents\Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition\ folder and you will find baldur.lua. It is a text document, so open it it Notepad (NOT Wordpad or any word processor that adds formatting data). Find the entries with 'Program Options' in them and insert the following:

SetPrivateProfileString('Program Options','Debug Mode','1')

Save and exit Notepad. Play the game.
I followed the instructions given in Baldur's Gate II and it didn't work. So what did I do wrong?

Edit: I went to the only .LUA Baldur's Gate 2 file I could find, inserted the code string, and it won't let me load my game.

Edit 2: I figured it out. For some reason I had two completely different Baldur's Gate document folders, one on the external drive with the game, and one on the internal drive.
