I've added the "Cheats=1" line under [Game Options] section of the file. saved it and then went back into the game. When I press ctrl and tab together at the same time the console area does not show up anywhere on the screen. Does the Cheats=1 command not work with the GOG.com version of the software.

I recall adding the Cheats=1 in respective file years ago pulled from the orignal disks I had on a old PC. Again just wondering what I need to do in order to enable the console on the digital version just purchased from GOG.
Google Sword Coast Keeper for BG1 or Shadow Keeper for BG2.They are save game editors that I've used for years. If you have BG1 & 2 you only need Shadow Keeper. You can edit your stats, AC, gold inventory, pretty much anything you want.

Just checked in my game and it works fine. Did you use the quotation marks when you added the line in the .ini file? If so, remove them. Other than that, I have no idea what the issue might be.
It's either Cheats=1 under [Game Options] or Debug Mode=1 under [Program Option]. Haven't used the first, the second I know it works.
But you must press Ctrl+Spacebar to open the console, not Ctrl+Tab.

That's for BG2. I believe the OP is talking about BG1, though.

You are probably right. In my mind whenever someone talks about BG1 I assume either BGT or BGTutu. :)
