Not the proper forum, but probably the best bet.

I know a few people running Win7x64 have managed to get EasyTutu to install with the GoG BGs. Did you have to do anything special?

My procedure:
Install BG1
Install BG2
Download EasyTutu_ToB.exe
Run that installer OR Manually extract then run Setup.exe

In all cases, I just end up with Setup.exe hanging in the task manager at 1,832 K of memory.

Thoughts?

Make sure you are running all .exe files as an administrator when installing. (Right-click the exe and select Run as Administrator.)

That's the first thing that comes to mind, anyway. ;)
Yeah, ran as admin, disabled anti-virus and firewall, ran with all the flavors of compatibility mode.

Well, I guess worst case scenario is I set it up on another system and copy it over. I would just prefer not to have to jump through quite so many hoops.
Make sure you're not installing in your Programs (either the regular or the x86) directory. Something generic like C:\Games should be fine. That's one thing I've seen pointed out many times when it comes to games and Win7. Maybe that will help.

yea, windows has a "security" feature where it doesn't allow a lot of things to be done in the directory C:\Program Files\
you should never ever install a game into that directory... yet for some reason all games try to install into that directory.

Of course, any malware will just not install into it... they also allow even more lax security inside your appdata folder... this is why google chrome installs into appdata instead of into program files, to exploit this to allow them to do silent automatic updates to latest version without even informing the user. (which is a really good thing! I tried to teach my parents how to install windows update and firefox update when it asks and the next thing i know they were installing malware from popups like "anti virus 2009" and saying its because I told them to... never again, don't let anyone who doesn't know what they are doing install anything... chrome's auto update is thus a welcome respite from manually updating everything else)

The installer for EasyTutu is a 32-bit only installer. You will need to run it on a 32-bit machine.

I mapped my game computers drive with BG1 & BG2 on it to a mapped drive letter on my laptop which is a 32-bit OS machine. I then ran the EasyTutu installer. The uninstall info and the Start Menu items will be on the 32-bit OS. I just deleted the Start Menu items and created new ones on the game machine. I also had to correct the paths in the baldur.ini file as it was using the mapped drive letter instead of the correct drive on the game machine. After I did this everything is running great.
Oh yeah, forgot to update this.

I ended up just setting it up on my work computer, then transferring it home with Windows Live Mesh.

Thanks though.

Installs and runs fine on WIndows Vista 64-bit, as do most 32-bit installers...
Everything installed fine for me on Win7 x64 box, didn't do anything special.

I followed this thread

32bit installers work just FINE on 64bit windows. its 8bit and 16bit installers that don't work 64bit windows. (because MS dropped support for them)
I had the same issue. Running as admin or in Windows XP compatibility mode didn't help. I turned off UAC (User Account Control) completely, rebooted, and then it worked.
