Im having a problem finding the .ini file. I am using Windows Vista. I have found the Program Files and the Baldur's Gate II folders, but there is no .ini file in either of them. Some have been talking about a Game Folder. I dont see one of those, either.

Will somebody walk me through the process and give a few different file names that it could be, etc.?

Edit: I found the file and fixed it, but I had to remove the old one because I wasnt allowed to change it (and cant figure out how to change it). I added the new .ini file to the program folder, but when I go into the game, the CTRL+SPACE key does not open the CLUA console. Will somebody tell me what I did wrong?

[Program Options]
Debug Mode=1
Installing=0
Install Type=3

Those are the first four lines. I didnt touch anything else.

Are you running the game as Admin?

I fixed it. I turned off the UAC.

so I managed to alter baldur.ini (by giving myself full control over the file) with the Cheats=1 line under [Game Options]. I'm running Baldur's Gate as an administrator (I copied my saves from the Virtual Store back to where I initially installed BG in Program Files). but I still can't get the console to work. again, despite having made the change to baldur.ini. alt+tab does nothing. what am I doing wrong/what else can I try? the reason I need the console is to get to Ulgoth's Beard - I installed TOTSC but the additional areas don't show up on my world map.

I don't know if it makes a difference, but I'm using VIsta, and the version of the game I have is v1.3.5508 (I don't know if there are newer patches out there that might address this problem?).

don't know if this thread is totally dead or what but would appreciate any help/thoughts from people who are more knowledgeable about these kinds of things. thanks.
well, never mind. it turns out I had to also modify the baldur.ini file in Local\Virtual Store\etc and now the console is working fine.

however, I'm having a different problem now. when I try to go to Ulgoth's Beard, the game demands I insert CD 6. thing is, CD 6 is already mounted in daemon tools and nothing happens when I remount it (also, the game doesn't close properly when I hit alt+F4 and I have to restart to get it to close). thoughts? again, thanks.
If you are using more than one virtual drive with daemon tools it sometimes messes things up. Try using just one virtual drive.

P.S. Hope you are just saving time and the hasslement of swapping cd's.
I'm having the exact same problem that's been brought up several times in here. I have modified baldur.ini, and I am running as an administrator, but when I try to bring up the console in game with ctrl+space, nothing happens. This problem is supposedly solved, but I do not see any solution in this thread.

What game are you playing?

Vanilla BG1

Cheats=1 goes under [Game Options]
Ctrl / Tab to open console.

Tutu / BGT BG1 or BG2

Debug Mode=1 goes under [Program Options]
Ctrl / Space to open console
I'm playing Baldur's Gate 2, and I finally got it to work. Apparently all the sources I've looked at told me to insert the ling DebugMode=1 when I needed a space so it said Debug Mode=1. I was also confused because in this thread I saw someone saying it needed to be Cheats=1.
