Hi all

I've (obviously!) purchased BG1 & BG2 from GOG, and at present can only run the game in windowed mode. When I try and run it 'full screen' as it were, the screen goes black / hangs and I have to manually restart my laptop.

Could anyone advise on how to potentially run the game full screen / possibilities to try? Apologies, I am a computer noob and have had a trawl on the internet, but haven't found anything too clear cut.

Many thanks in advance for any thoughts / suggestions... (and also let me know if any further info is required)

Background / supporting info:

From a link (which I don't think I'm able to post presently) from the GOG website, I initially installed (following the order from the post):

-Baldur's Gate 2 Fixpack
-BGT-WeiDU
-selected 'Hyrbid Baldur's Gate/Shadows of Amn/Throne of Bhaal music' in Setup-BGTMusic.exe

(to note, I haven't installed Balder's Gate 1 Unfinished Business / Balder's Gate 2 Unfinished Business)

Also, the games were installed in c: GOG Games (not in Program Files / Program Files (x86)). I also made the compatability mode Windows 7, and my account is the administrator.

After the above, I was able to play the game in windowed mode (not full screen), but it was a small window so to speak.

So I then installed the widescreen mode from the setup-widescreen file in c: GOG Games / Baldur's Gate 2.

The resolution I set was 1280 x 800 (after seeing a posting which advised to input only certain resolutions, that being one of the suggested options).

This then increased the width of the actual window, but it is alas still a window / not full screen.

Info on computer:

-13 inch laptop
-Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
-resolution: 1600 x 900
-graphics card: Intel HD Graphics 3000
-processor: intel i5-2467M (1.60ghz)
-ram: 4gb

First of all, uninstall the widescreen mod. Never use the widescreen mod while troubleshooting. Once uninstalled, run your BGConfig.exe file from the Baldur's Gate installation folder. In there you should set some parameters. I suggest as a starting point:

Basic > Hardware:
* Uncheck 'Use 3D Acceleration'
* Check 'Automatic Speed Adjustment'
* Maximise all sliders.

Gameplay> Miscellaneous:
* Cache size '768 MB'
* Frame Rate '30'
* Check 'Enhanced Pathfinding' set to 400000

Gameplay> Speed Adjustment:
* Check 'Automated Speed Adjustment'
* Leave all others at default

Graphics> Display:
* Check 'Unlock Modes'.
* Check 1024x768 **** USE THIS RESOLUTION FOR NOW. Use 1280x960 later, if you prefer ****
* Check '32 Bit'
* Check 'Full Screen'

Graphics> 2D & 3D Options
* Check '3D Animations'
* Uncheck 'Use 3D Acceleration'
* Uncheck 'Disable Vertex Padding' (NB. Turn on if you see seams between tiles in-game)
* Press 'Test'

Hickory you are a scholar and a gentleman, much better now, thank you for the very detailed / helpful response.

Could I ask one further question / again excuse my ignorance - would you recommend starting a new game, or do you think my existing save may be ok with the changes (if you're able to give a view)? Thanks...

You're welcome.

If you have a saved game made with the widescreen mod, then you should start a new game. The widescreen mod alters game assets that get stored in your save games, and using saves with assets at the wrong scale will crash your game. This is why there is an option (when installing the widescreen mod) for converting save games. You do not need the widescreen mod with BGT.

PS. Please feel free to mark the question solved if you are satisfied that it is.

Again, thank you, much appreciated (and I'll mark the question solved).
