I am using Windows 7 and none of the Baldurdash mods will install. I have tried everything I can think of from running as admin to using program compatibility and they immediately crash to desktop.

My question is: Where have you installed the game? If it's in *any* /Program Files or /Program folder, Win 7 "protects" the files so that mods won't work.

No, that is not the problem. The game is installed in default GOG downloads folder c:\GOGdownloads.

Also, I can install the widescreen mod and it updates the files. That mod doesn't work correctly but at least it installs.

The full error I get is "Paquet Builder has stopped working" which is the self-extracting zip archive. Then it crashes to the desktop. I tried to Google that but nothing obvious popped up that seemed relevant.

Try disabling your antivirus. Some are known to interfere with the proper execution of programs. If that doesn't help, then download the free 7Zip and extract the contents with that -- the Paquet Builder self extractors can be opened with 7Zip, just don't run them.

Edit: you will need to be clear where the contents are to be extracted to, since not all Baldurdash fixes go to the same place. To be honest, with the GOG versions of BG1 & 2, you do not need any of the Baldurdash fixes.
