I downloaded the bonus BG1 and BG2 avatars into my portraits folder where I have others but when I go to customise a character they do not appear as options. What have I done wrong. Do I need to re-write them as bmp folders and how do I do that?

Avatars are not portraits. Avatars are for using in places like right here... the forums. You could use one, since you don't have one set.

Portraits are bitmap images (.bmp) of a specific size. You can find many custom portrait packs on the net, or do them yourself. Images must be 110x170 pixels for the large and 38x60 for the small (there must be two). Note that the enhanced edition image sizes are different, ie. 196x266 and 54x84 pixels.

What a shame. They are such nice portraits. Thanks for your help.
