BG1 has an XP cap of 161,000 XP. Without the addon it was 89,000 XP but you cannot even get the game without the addon nowadays anyway.

But in Black Pits the devs wants to be funky or something, and made all kinds of individual XP caps for different classes.

Which of course doesnt work at all. The moment you dualclass, you get the weirdest results.

Like a Berserker(9)/Druid, who with an uniform XP cap of 600,000 (thats the highest an individual class can get in BP1, namely Paladin and Ranger get that) could easily unlock the Berserker again, well they can dualclass at 250,000 XP to Druid all right - but then they are stuck at level 1 !!! LOL

Basically its a walking bag of hitpoints.

Likewise a Berserker(9)/Cleric who should at least be able to get to Level 9 as a Cleric, just at the border to unlock - only gets level 8. Which at least works.

Likewise my Swashbuckler(10)/Mage only got to level 8 again, even if they should also be Swashbuckler(10)/Mage(10).

By the way, all three characters immediately got 600,000 xp for their second class in BP2. So you kind of get a reward for holding out I guess.

But all I really want is an uniform XP cap of 600,000 xp for everyone.

I cant find any fix for this on the net. All I can find is complete cap removeals. Thats not what I'm looking for though. I tried to find a way to fix this by hand, and it kind of worked, but not really.
If you found an XP cap remover that works on Black Pits 1, you can adjust it to impose any particular cap. If I recall correctly, the cap removers typically just raised the cap to the maximum representable value rather than truly removing it. The maximum value is so high you will never reach it, and would instead reach the maximum character level of 40 before you got close to the maximum XP.
For the record I've gotten NearInfinity and looked at the files and just set the limit for all classes to 600kxp

(The file is called XPCAP.2DA)

I hope this works now.
About reaching levelcaps, both the base game and even more so the first Black Pits game easily allow to farm XP.

Edit: Fixed the statement. The second Black Pits game still allows XP farming but its not easy anymore.

Okay, so I used this twice, and it seems to work well.

The remaining issue that I have is that when I import my characters, somehow all dualclasses have their first class XP ignored.

Meaning they all start at 1.0 to 1.5 mio xp (thats what I usually have at this point), even the dualclasses who in my case typically had spent 160,000 xp on a Swashbuckler 10 or 250,000 on a Berserker 9 or 300,000 on a Ranger 9, and should have this xp removed from their active class.

The people who programmed this really didnt understand AD&D ...
