The oddest thing happened to Baldur's Gate. It was running perfectly fine: Normally, whenever I opened the game, it would automatically play in full-screen mode.

When I was loading the game up this morning, I accidentally clicked on the desktop while it was starting. It opened in a maximized window, as per usual. Instead of the game taking up the whole screen, however, it appeared as a little window in the middle of a black field.

I suppose this has to do with BG's native resolution being 640x800. I've tried changing compatibility settings in Windows 7, but I get the exact same result. I've tried running it in a window, where the game screen is the same size, and then expanding it with Alt+Enter, but that doesn't work, either. I've tried changing the BG config file, but my settings change back to the defaults when I start the game. I of course also tried changing the graphics options from the in-game menu.

What else can I try?

Thanks!

Hey. Go to your graphics properties:panel fit and make sure you don't have it set to "Center Image". Try "Maintain Aspect Ratio" or "Scale Full Screen"

Win 7: Right click on desktop > graphic options > panel fit

Thank you for your advice! I'm sorry I took so long to reply.

Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to have done anything. My video card and drivers (Intel graphics media accelerator for mobile on a Windows 7 machine) don't even provide options other than "Center Image" and "Full Screen," and I can only select "Full Screen." My next step, I think, is a reinstall.
