I tried to install the widescreen mod on BG I and didn't like the results at all (the blank UI space plus I was getting framerate problems for some reason) So I uninstalled the mod but now Baldur's gate stretches to fill my screen whenever I open it rather than just sitting in the center of my screen with two black bars on the side. I just want to play it again in the way it came "out of the box" in its normal scaling. Please help me!

Adjust the scaling in your video card control panel. For example, if you have nVidia go to 'Adjust Desktop Size and Position' and set the scaling to your GPU, set scaling mode to 'Aspect Ratio' and check 'Override scaling mode set by games'.
I got it to work, thanks! I have an Intel 4600 on my laptop so I didn't go through the same process as you described, but it pushed me in the right direction. Basically I had to find a way to open my video card control panel with the game open and set it to "Maintain Aspect Ratio". I assume it would be similar for any other Intel card.
