Just something I'm wondering: In BG1, the game not only doesn't pause, but it actually *unpauses* when you enter the inventory screen. In BG2, the game pauses in the inventory screen.

Does the game pause in BG3's inventory screen?

Note: Before you answer saying it doesn't matter, keep in mind that the game isn't just the combat, and please explain why it wouldn't matter or it's irrelevant if that's your answer. (I'm trying to learn how the game works.)

Also, does the game pause in dialog and in the menu where you do things like save, load, or quit? (I shouldn't have to ask this question, but given what I've heard about a certain other game, it seems like I have to ask it.)
no it doesn't pause, they keepmoving around in the background and I have even had them walk onto traps and kill me

So, I guess that could be a problem.

Is there at least a way to pause the game?

(I really wish makers of games with turn-based combat would make the entire game turn-based.)
You can turn on the turned-based mode anytime, which would effectively pause the game and actually very helpful for solving some puzzles.

Wish granted.
