I've just downloaded BG2 and was really looking forward to playing it, but for some reason it plays as if its in slow motion: the character movement and the cursor in general is sluggish and unresponsive. I really can't bear to play the game like this. I have a 1.6ghz processor and this game is not 3D so I can't see any possible reason why it should be like this. I tried increasing the frame rate in the configuration tool, but this didn't seem to make any difference. But then I noticed something weird. I was trying to work out how to run, because the character walk speed was so annoyingly slow. I tried pressing shift - nothing. Then I pressed "alt" while my characters were moving, and suddenly they were moving about three times as fast, in fact at just the kind of speed I wanted. I thought I had found the run key but the strange thing is that pressing alt, after you've clicked to move or attack, speeds up not only movement, but also the attacking animations. It also speeds up the cursor and makes it more responsive. However, you can't click on things while holding the alt key down, because then nothing happens. You have to press it once the action has been initiated. Anybody know what the hell is going on here? Clearly my computer can run the game at the speed I want because it does so when I press the alt key, but not otherwise.
