Hi all.
im playing BG2 (chapter 2) and a couple of my characters have just reached level up.
however, when i do it, it states that they have no proficiency slots, and i cant do anything other than simply level up. i assume i should be able to assign some points or similar?
can anyone help?
thanks in advance :)

Characters only get weapon proficiency points at certain levels, as follows:

Fighters/Rangers/Paladins/Barbarians - 4 at first, one every third level (3, 6, 9, etc.)
Clerics, Druids, Thieves, Bards, Monks - 2 at first, one every fourth level (4, 8, 12, etc.)
Mages, Sorcerers - 2 at first, one every sixth level (6, 12, 18, etc.)

Multiclass characters get their points with whatever class gets them quickest; i.e., a Fighter-Druid like Jaheira gets them at every third fighter level, and she gets none from her druid levels. I'm not sure how Cleric/Thieves work, but I also can't recall any characters who use it, so unless that's what your character is, it shouldn't be an issue.

DARIA 16 and imoen
if i select level up (my first time btw) it takes me to a screen which tells me proficiency slots:0
and although it looks like there are buttons for assigning points, i cant do anything

Heya, still not enough info. What class(es) and level(s for the classes) for each character? Is Imoen pure thief or Thief/Mage? What classe(s) is DARIA? Just trying to see if there's a glitch here or if it's WAD, I can't recall offhand if, when levelling, the game shows proficiency slots only when you get a point or if it does it every level.

*edit* Okay, just checked. That's normal. When you get a proficiency point, it will show how many. When you don't it just says 'Proficiency Slots: 0', and all you can do is level up. You're good.
