Hey guys,

I just picked up Baldur's Gate and a bunch of the other D&D games from the promo, but so far the only one giving me problems is Baldur's Gate 1.

I've installed the widescreen mod for all these games, as detailed here:

However, only with BG1 do I get an incredibly low framerate constantly. I'm using an i7 laptop with an nVidia Geforce GT230M, but regardless of my specs it seems silly that such an old game would have framerate issues on a modern PC!

Is anybody able to help?

If you have a second generation i7 cpu, your laptop should have two GPU's (the integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 that comes with your CPU and your dedicated Nvidia Geforce GT230M).

If you go to the Nvidia control panel and then to "Manage 3D settings", you'll see that you can select your "Preferred graphics processor". By default it should be on Auto-select and I assume that Baldur's Gate is using the integrated card. Just change the settings so it uses the Nvidia card.

When switching to the Nvidia card, you might notice some screen flickering when playing BG1 but I assume you installed the patch that fixes it since it was one of the steps in your guide.

I don't know if this will fix your problem, but hopefully it will.
