Adventure Y officially announced! What are people's thoughts on BG 1.5? (I'm pretty excited. I'm always excited about anything BG related.)

I can't get excited, for the simple reason that the quality of the added content in BG:EE was/is simply awful. And it didn't get better in BG2:EE, it got worse!

Hickory, you have no idea what you're talkin about! Beamdog is doing excellent job, simply because they are getting better and better at it. I am super excited and can't wait to see all the engine improvements added to these beloved games. So don't live in the past, EE versions have been improved so much since the release and most of the popular mods are compatible too. ^^

The Siege Of Dragonspear will make everything even more brilliant. Hype! Give us GoG pre-order! :))

So because *you* are excited, that means *I* don't know what I'm talking about? Interesting logic. The fact is, the added content is shite, plain and simple.

From what I can make out, without official word, is that it's only coming to Beamdog and Steam. Another reason not to get excited. I bought all their previous titles from both Beamdog *and* GOG -- I won't make that mistake again -- but *if* I purchase this expansion it will *only* be when and if it comes to GOG.

Everything comes to GoG eventually. :)

It should be coming at the same time as Beamdog and Steam. They sell the complete games on GOG, so there's simply no justification for holding back the expansion -- it's typical, but in no way justified.

I asked them about this, if it's coming to GOG, it's sort of a confirmation in my eyes, this is what they said:
Probably too early to ask this but is this coming to GOG?

Probably. We publish on Beamdog and Steam first for PC, but we usually follow up with other platforms like GoG, GamersGate, etc.

I'm very excited to see this! I think Beamdog has done a very good job with the Enhanced Editions and of course I've always wanted more Baldur's Gate. Surprisingly, it also looks like it will actually run on my computer which I was nervous about when I first heard this was coming. It will be hard waiting for it to come to GOG, hopefully I'll have the will-power to wait. It'll help that they'll be working out the bugs, and hopefully most of the major problems will have been patched up by the time it comes here.

And don't mind Hickory. He is great at helping people with tech problems here, but he never wastes an opportunity to say how much he hates the Enhanced Editions and how they are not really "Baldur's Gate" despite the fact that the content is 95% the same. Hi Hickory! *waves*

And don't mind crumb24, who's always very eager to jump on anybody who doesn't share his/her view.

As for EE not truly being a BG experience, that's because they are not. And don't forget that opinions are just opinions, yours included. Because you say it's good does not make it good. Same goes for anybody else. And I will say it again, for the umpteenth time, if I hated the EEs so much, why would I bother paying for them... ALL titles... twice? Go an play somewhere else.

Not anybody. Just you. You really make it too easy. :D

I'm serious about being really happy about this game that's coming though. And yes, this is just my opinion.

No stalking. I read this board because I love these games in all forms. BG2 is probably my favorite game ever. But if you read this board, its not hard to find a post by you. And I do sometimes find joy in giving you a little bit of the same attitude and condescension you frequently display here. But I do think your posting is helpful in getting others to be able to play this game, so I gave you credit for that too. And because I love these games, I appreciate that aspect of what you do. But like I said, your attitude is a little much sometimes.

I wonder how I got it in my head that you hate the Enhanced Editions. I mean, really, it is just such a great leap from your comment that "the added content is shite, plain and simple." Or that "the quality of the added content in BG:EE was/is simply awful. And it didn't get better in BG2:EE, it got worse!" Its also really rich that you think its ME who doesn't let others express opinions differing from yours. Just read how you responded to FLyLand above. And you state that it is "fact" not opinion that the added content is "shite." I disagree and that is my opinion.
