Hello everyone, I've just reinstalled BGEE on my Debian 9 PC but found out it won't launch. I've tried to launch it through a terminal and this is the output:

Running Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition
libGL error: unable to load driver: i965_dri.so
libGL error: driver pointer missing
libGL error: failed to load driver: i965
libGL error: unable to load driver: i965_dri.so
libGL error: driver pointer missing
libGL error: failed to load driver: i965
libGL error: unable to load driver: swrast_dri.so
libGL error: failed to load driver: swrast

According to Synaptic, the drivers for i915 are installed, while looking for "swrast" doesn't give any results.

I've also tried launching directly through ~/GOG Games/Baldurs Gate Enhanced Edition/game/BaldursGate but this is the output:

/home/jeff/GOG Games/Baldurs Gate Enhanced Edition/game/BaldursGate: error while loading shared libraries: libjson.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

The game worked on Debian 8, and there have been similar issues at least on Arch and Ubuntu (16.04?), but I haven't been able to solve the issue using the solutions given here:
https://www.gog.com/forum/baldurs_gate_series/errors_on_startup_under_arch_linux
https://www.gog.com/forum/baldurs_gate_series/bg_1_ee_on_arch_linux_startup_library_problems

Has anyone solved it on Debian or on one of its derivatives?

Jeffry84: *snip*
This is a year old but looks like the package name may have been renamed?

Wouldn;t hurt to try it.

I've installed the packages mentioned in the solution given there and retried but no luck. I'm receiving the same error messages :/

Looks like it;s a common issue:

https://www.gog.com/forum/icewind_dale_series/iwdee_linux_libjsonso0/
I was able to install BG1/2 EE on stretch using the ./play it scripts ( https://wiki.dotslashplay.it/en/games/baldurs-gate , https://wiki.dotslashplay.it/en/games/baldurs-gate-2 ). I wouldn't attempt to run either of those without 10+GB, though, generating the new packages temporarily eats up a fair amount of space.

Note that the games get installed to /usr/local/share/games/baldurs-gate-enhanced-edition/Baldur1 and /usr/local/share/games/baldurs-gate-2-enhanced-edition/BaldurII, and launchers are not automatically generated.

As an alternative to the ./play.it scripts, you can download a .deb installer for libssl1.0.0 here (https://packages.debian.org/wheezy/i386/libssl1.0.0/download) , and use the gog installers normally after installing the old libssl.

Hi, thank you for your reply! I followed your suggestion and downloaded libjson-c2:i386, libjson0:i386 and libssl1.0.0:i386, just from Jessie instead of wheezy. I'll edit the menu launcher as start.sh still doesn't work (still the same LibGL errors), but the BaldursGate executable does.
I'll also have a look at this ./Play thing. It's not the first time I heard of them.
Hopefully someone at Overhaul/Beamdog will look into it and make the executables a bit less depending. Wishful thinking?
