Good morning everybody!
I have installed BG without mods on my PC with Windows 10. The movies look just fine, but the gameplay is a little "choppy". Every foru or five seconds, the sprites stop for a millisecond or so; nothing too annoying, but the gameplay is less pleasant.
Does it have anything to do with screen resolution? I have 8GB RAM, so it can hardly be a memory problem. Any help is highly appreciated, since it is "so had to find decent folks nowadays".
Thanks!

Assuming you are talking about the original game and not the crappy enhanced edition, try this:

open baldur.ini in a text editor, look under [Game Options] and change both "Low Mem Sounds 1" and "Low Mem Sounds 2" values to 1 (default is 0), i.e. it should be like this

Low Mem Sounds 1=1
Low Mem Sounds 2=1

Just be careful that bgconfig may reset those settings to the default values undoing the fix. So, after using bgconfig, you should check again baldur.ini and, if necessary, put those values back to 1.

Yes, I am talking about the original game, downloaded from GOG. Sorry about not having specified.
I opened the file, but found no "low mem sounds" under [Game Options]. This is what I have.

[Game Options]
Memory Access=100
Footsteps=1
Weather=1
Memory Level=1
Mouse Scroll Speed=12
GUI Feedback Level=5
Locator Feedback Level=3
Bored Timeout=3000
Always Dither=1
Subtitles=0
Keyboard Scroll Speed=36
Command Sounds Frequency=2
Selection Sounds Frequency=3
Effect Text Level=62
Infravision=0
Tutorial State=1
Attack Sounds=1
Auto Pause State=1
Difficulty Level=3
Quick Item Mapping=1
Environmental Audio=1
Inventory Pause Warning=1

Am I doing something wrong?

Sorry, my mistake.That solution only works for the BG2 engine.
Try this instead:

double click on setup-ddrawfix.exe (it is in the same folder as baldur.ini) and select option 2, i.e.

[2] Use WineD3D's DDraw Library

If this doesn't work try removing DDrawFix completely, i.e double clicking on setup-ddrawfix.exe and selecting u to uninstall.

Sorry, I cannot find it.
Baldur.ini is in the main directory ("Baldurs Gate"), but there is no setup-ddrawfix.exe file there. I only have a Config, which sends me to settings such as "Cache Size", "Path Search Nodes" and "Game Speed".

If your installer didn't already have DDrawFix (GOG may have removed it from current installers) you can download it from its home page here.
