Often Baldur's Gate will crash to desktop when I enter buildings. I click to walk in and the game shuts down.

I'm running the Widescreen mod, and GUI mod on Win 7 64bit.

Anyone experienced this and have a fix?

All I can say is that I have run through the entire game without issue on Win7 64bit without any mods installed so I would hazard a guess that the problem lies there.

I get that on occasion, have you by any chance been using ALT+TAB to go back to the desktop? After a week of playing around, I've noticed that I only ever get the crashes after I tab back to the desktop to read a message or something.

Mostly I just make sure I save every 10 minutes or after every notable event, even if I do get a crash it doesn't cost much but a small annoyance and delay when reloading
Thanks guys.

I was thinking the issue might be the mods Nacimota.

Aliasalpha, I have done, but don't think I did when I was playing earlier and it crashed. I'll play it again and won't alt-tab, see if I get same issues.
i have the same issue.. its only happened when i move the full party, not sure if that has anything to do with it or not, im using widescreen mod as well.. definatly worth it, normaly i save often though. game can just give you really bad rolls and you wind up dead, espiecally with the high degree of dificulty in many battles early game
I have never really noticed, but you might have a point about it only happening when moving the whole party in. Might stop doing that and see what happens.
Same problem here. I am using the Widescreen + GUI mod as well. This happened on my last play through using the original game discs as well.
I've had the same problem. I make it a habit to quick save every time I enter and exit now.

yea i pretty much do the same.. unless i have a save recently.. Like typically an autosave going from a map to beregost, then when i go into the jovial juggler i dont bother.

It seams very sparatic too, Perhaps its a memory over load, Or memory leak with this mod? Or a vista/win 7 memory problem.

I have never seen this issue running on win 95, 98, or 2000 (yes ive been playing the game that long, granted win 95 was a few years old, but still)

seeing its a win error. id bet that is a memory issue.. How to fix it i havent got a clue.. But maybe someone on these boards might have a better idea about it.

are people getting this same error with out the widescreen mod? is everyone thats getting the error using vista or win 7?

Side note.. ive never gotton a crash after saving either.. No clue if that has a effect or not, perhaps its murphies law, or perhaps a save is doing something that makes the crash not happen

I'm wondering if this is just a bug in the game itself as when I played BG1+TotSC some years back it was on a Win98SE machine using a retail disc version (a re-release 4 disc version). And I also had this very same issue. Sometimes you'd walk into a building and it's crash to desktop.

Sometimes I had to re-install to get it working again, so keep those savegames safe.
So the widescreen mod is the recurring theme here?

Are you all using the GUI mod as well?
It happened to me a couple of times before installing the widescreen mod, but now happens very regularly with the mod. I was running in windowed mode on XP for all occurrences. It seems to happen most regularly when leaving one building and then entering another (happens every time in Nashkel when I leave the inn and enter the general store unless I save and reload after leaving one building).
I kept having this problem with the Widescreen mod installed. So far without it, I've had no crashes at all. I've gotten used to the low resolution now, and I actually like it better for some reason.
Win7/64 w widescreen mod: occasional ctd when entering/leaving buildings or areas

any new ideas out there???
Interestingly, the frequency of crashes has decreased a lot : when I first started, it was hard to go an hour without a CTD, now I often go 4 hours with no CTD - haven;t changed anything

I was having this same problem, and I solved it by re-installing the widescreen mod (v3.05, which automatically uninstalls the previous installation for you).

When I reinstalled the widescreen mod, I told it to make my previous saved games compatible, and it took care of the problem. I think this is because I had copied some old saved games from a previous installation, and I probably forgot to make them compatible during widescreen installation.
