So I just beat Baldur's Gate 1 with the expansion pack and was trying to import my character into Baldur's Gate 2 but it doesn't seem to be working. Can someone walk me through what I need to do?? The character is a female fighter with a strength of 19 and would like to use her in part 2.

Hi,

check this: http://baldursgate.wikia.com/wiki/Importing.
There's two ways of doing it, but one requires you to export the character from BG1. If you did that, just copy the *.CHR file that you exported from your BG1 \Characters\ folder to your BG2 \Characters\ folder.

The other way is to copy your final save (the whole folder) from your BG1 \Save\ folder (it will be named something like '000000002-Final-Save') into your BG2 \Save\ folder.
I'm still lost. Can't find the saved game file

Are you using Galaxy? If so, it should be under:

C:\Program Files (x86)\GalaxyClient\Games\Baldurs Gate\Save
I have GOG Galaxy, but no GalaxyClient under my program files
Are you looking under Program Files (x86)? It's separate from just Program Files. Or better yet...

1. Open GOG Galaxy.
2. Navigate to Baldur's Gate
3. Click the "More" button next to "Play"
4. Scroll down to "Manage Installation"
5. Click "Show Folder"

From there you should see your Save and Characters folders.

Press the 'Galaxy' button at top left. Choose 'Settings' >> 'Downloads' >> 'Game installation folder'.

Now, if you're not playing the classic version your save folder won't be in there, it'll be in 'Documents', but since you mentioned "Baldur's Gate 1 with the expansion pack" I'm assuming you are playing the classic version.

STATE WHICH VERSION when you ask a question.
Sorry. Been playing the Enhanced Edition

Then your characters and saves are in
..\Documents\Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition\

Open up your 'Run' dialog and copy/paste the following into it. It will open Windows Explorer at your documents folder.

%USERPROFILE%\Documents
Thanks for the help, but I give up. Can't find it so just gonna create a new character

Every Windows modern installation has a Documents folder. (Hence the %USERPROFILE%\ OS variable.)

What version of Windows are you using?
