Hi, I've recently encountered a pretty serious problem in Baldur's Gate 1, GOG version. This is my first playthrough ever and I'm on chapter 7 (lawful good paladin), with all my party members lv7. Spoilers ahead, obviously.

Since chapter 7 seems to be the last one, I've decided to do some dungeons, starting with Firewine Ruins, after which I moved onto Durlag's Tower. When I met Kirinhale, being lawful good, I decided not to help her and she attacked me. I managed to kill her, but she put a Dire Charm on Kivan. Now, I've tried several methods but the Dire Charm just won't expire. I've waited 120 seconds (20 rounds), I've tried resting twice in a row, I've tried charming him then resting etc. (I don't have a Dispel Magic on me, before you ask), the Dire Charm icon disappears, it doesn't say he is charmed in his status window and yet he is still hostile. I've even tried killing him and then resurrecting at a temple, but whenever I try travelling somewhere, a few steps after arriving the game crashes with a message window saying something like "ObjCreature.cpp line 6012". Is there a way to solve this? Being that far in the game I really would hate starting over again (and probably wouldn't do so for quite a while).
EDIT: After she put the Dire Charm on him, I used Charm Person so that he turns friendly again. When both expired, he was hostile.

Protonaut: EDIT: After she put the Dire Charm on him, I used Charm Person so that he turns friendly again. When both expired, he was hostile.
Charm spells are hostile spells. There's always a big risk that a party member will stay hostile if you charm them. You should have just waited, or used a dispel from either a cleric, mage or scroll. When a powerful party member is charmed, a better option is to just Otiluke them. Have you edited your saved game... the one that crashes after you killed him?
I tried editing the save with Gatekeeper, but didn't manage to make his hostility go away. However, today I booted up the game and tried something new: I kicked Kivan and then immediately asked him to join the party again. All is well now, and I thank you for your reply. I'll mark your post as solution (even though it's actually prevention) so this topic becomes solved.

Protonaut: I tried editing the save with Gatekeeper, but didn't manage to make his hostility go away.
That is likely the reason for your crash, and the reason I asked. Gatekeeper does not edit status flags correctly, and more often than not your character becomes corrupt.

Anyway, glad you're all sorted now.
