So I've tried installing Baldur's Gate 1 three different times now, Twice with the browser once with the installer and every time it downloads onto my pc without issue, but then I try to run the installer and it'll start to install it but stop about 35% into it with a error message that says it couldn't copy over a specific file. I think it said its area something or another file.

BG2 does the same thing.

I'm also running Windows 7 and I've tried run in compatiability mode XP SP2 and removing the whole "Are you sure you want to run this?" thing. I'm at a loss.

Run the install as Administrator and\or install the game(s) into a folder outside of Program Files eg games\BG1

No good, it says..

The source file is corrupted.


If the installation itself is corrupted I had already tried three times to donwload it >_<!

If the file passes integrity check, then the installer itself is fine.
Do you use any anti-virus software that may interfere with the installation?

Nope. None. =/

edit:this is really depressing too because I really want to play through these games again.

Do you have enough space on your C: partition?
I'm not sure how the GOG installer handles things but somtimes you need room on your system partition during installation. Regardless of wich drive you install to.

Does it happen only with BG games? How about any other GOG installer?

I haven't tried any other, Let me try one of the other complimentary games that came with the account and I'll edit this and let you know.

Edit: Tyrian 2000 installed with absolutely zero issues. Ughh. Baldur's Gate why do you hate me so?

There is a possibility that the files are corrupted on server you're redirected to, but then integrity check would fail, I think. :/

Is there anything I can do? I made this account just to get the Baldur's Gates+Dungeon Keeper+Planescape. =/

I contacted support but after the first email they haven't gotten back to me at all.

Edit: I even tried running the installation in safe mode, and it seems to go further but a totally different file fails to copy over.

It might take them a few days to answer. Try contacting one of blue guys via PM to check if that mail reached support.

I'm downloading BG myself, but in the meantime:
How much free space do you have on C: and D: partitions?
Where do you run the installer from?

Downloading it to test the server theory I'm assuming?

My C: is a very small partition of only 12GB left and my D: is 175 GB left.

I've tried running the direct downloads I've gotten several times from the default download directory on C, the desktop on C, and from the base directory for my HDD on D

I've always tried running the GOGinstaller ones from the default installation location it places them on C:

Baldur's gate 2 downloads to my users\users\downloads folder ok on Windows 7. When I click on the exe file and the box comes up with the correct location, I click ok and get an error message saying the file can't be found in that location. Any ideas?
