After many unsuccessful attempts to run the original Baldur's Gate 1 on my M1 Macbook Air using Wineskin, PlayOnMac and even bare-bones Wine I gave up and bought the Enhanced Edition here on GOG (as it includes the classic Baldur's Gate too).

I installed BG: The Original Saga through GOG Galaxy and it just doesn't work. Game doesn't even start.

I tried solutions from these threads:
{Sadly GOG forums told me I can't post any links for now, I will add them ASAP :C}

But none of them works.

So, is there any way to run The Original Saga on M1 Mac with OS X Sonoma?

Download the dmg packages from your library. It runs great on my M1 Mac mini through Rosetta 2.

Thanks, I'll try Rosetta 2 then, since Parallels gets my Mac very hot

How did you make it work?
For me:

1) opening the DMG under Rosetta is not an option via "Get Info" - I don't have the option to switch Rosetta on
what I found in the internet seems like the DMG image is never supposed to be open under Rosetta, it's just mounting a disk image

2) opening the app package (the "file" which appears in Applications after installation) with Rosetta is not an option (Get Info - no option)
2) opening the app package in terminal with `arch -x86_64` says it is not an executable file.

Opening GOGLauncher or WineskinLauncher with arch -x86_64 also does not work

happy for any advice how to proceed

I am on Sonoma, M1
Or just get GemRB... Mac Source Ports is the best place in the internet for Mac gamers haha.

The Original Saga is 32bit so it simply won't work.
