- There's no The Gauntlet mode
- Drizzt becomes available after beating the story. He is a direct port from the first game, what is highly underwhelming.
- There's another character (Artemis Entreri) to unlock. Becomes available efter beating Extreme Difficulty. You see why this is a bad move. Another problem that it's another melee character, and even worse, more like a copy of the Monk, but with two daggers. What's the point playing with this?
- There are 5 characters now. With even more skills to choose from. No idea why, because everyone will just go with the best build.
a) barbarian: wield 2 twohanded weapon in each hand, and go berserkering.
b) monk: your unarmed fighter.
c) necromancer: the obvious build is to somehow pull it out until you unlock the extra skills in Act 3, then buy the shadow beast and the shadow damage spell. Another option exists though: combine Claws of Darkness with Vampiric Touch (just don't forget you still need something to effect undead).
d) rogue: if you enjoyed suffering with the archer in the previous game, you found your inheritance.
e) cleric. 'Nuiff said. Clerics are outdated concept, and should have no place in the fantasy genre in the form AD&D introduced them. That aside, you likely want to go with the broken Sanctuary spell, which makes all enemies, except the single one you attack, not hostile (for 1 minute when maxed), creating a bland environment. Otherwise, this character pretty much lacks focus, rendering it meh.

What DA2 seems to have acocmlished though, is by first look there's no brokenly overpowered spell like Ball Lightning was.

There was also added an annoying crafting system. Good luck spending your time browsing charts to optimise your build.

The interface looks worse, and there's no unclothing.

It also seems, the original design was to make "Easy" the default difficulty, and with beating the game over and over unlocking more and more characters instead of choosing from 5.

This game also ends on a cliffhanger, showing a PHARAO?!?, and the 3rd game will never be made due to bankrupcy. So, you know, why bother?
